You should change your tampon every 34 hours just like your sanitary napkin. Do not exceed wearing your tampon for more than 8 hours or you risk chance of Toxic Shock Syndrome. Many woman will change their tampon every 23 hours on the first one to two days of their period due to heavier period flow. Tampons come in different absorbencies from light to super heavy flow.

Hygiene is the most important thing to worry about while you are on your period. In your school backpack keep an extra pair of pants, and sanitary napkin. When you have your school lunch take your backpack with you to the bathroom and change your pad. No one will question why you have your backpack because you are at lunch. Do not feel embarrassed around other girls they all know how you feel.
