If you are planning to contact your doctor, make sure you have the necessary basic information that your physician may ask, such as:

How long does your period last for?

Mark down the days of your period on a calendar for about 3-4 cycles. Then you can average about how long your cycle should last each month. A normal cycle is 21 to 35 days.

How heavy or light is your flow?

If you have been having your periods for a few months, you can tell whether you are going to be having lighter or heavier flows. Keep track of any abnormal discharge, blood clots, or a heavier flow. Don’t be afraid to let your physician know about any abnormalities or changes in your period flow. Some changes can lead to certain conditions and your doctor is there to help.

Attention: Do not be afraid to contact your parents or your physician. The only way to get help is to ask for help from those around you. Every female has to go through puberty at a certain point of their life and should take you seriously when you ask for help.

Things to look for that you should notify your doctor about:

  • Change is menstruation length
  • Abnormal amount on menstruation blood
  • Irregular Periods (After having period for at least a year)
  • Change in vaginal secretion (yellow discharge, itching/scratching)
  • Pelvic or Abdominal Pain
  • Depression, mood swings, irritability (Especially if on birth control or medication)
