Depending on how heavy your flow is experiment with different pad absorbencies to see which pad is full in about 34 hours. If your pad takes only 12 hours to be fully absorbed consider switching to a higher absorbency. On the first 34 days when your period is heaviest you don’t want to be wearing a pad more than 34 hours without switching for hygiene.
