A girl should learn about menstruation before her period starts so that she is well informed and doesn’t become shocked when she notices blood down around her underwear area.

When her period starts she should ask her mother or a nurse for some pads. Make sure to keep your vaginal area clean and do not leave a pad on for more than eight hours. If your pad already feels heavy after 2 hours consider getting a higher absorbency. Drink a lot of water and eat less fatty and salty foods to reduce feeling fatigue.
